Grant H. Grace worked for the Frick Coke Company. He enlisted in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on 17 February 1943 and was overseas for 13 months.
Pfc Grant was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in connection with military operations from 3 to 10 October 1944. Exposing himself to enemy machine gun, sniper and artillery fire, he and another soldier continually directed mortar and artillery fire on the enemy. Constantly on the alert and doggedly continuing hit duties for a period of eight days with little rest, he and his comrade were directly responsible for silencing two enemy snipers, three machine gun positions and possibly four enemy mortar positions.
