S/Sgt James E. Walsh was a graduate of Yankton High School. After he graduated, he moved to California. He was employed by W.J. Bush Company in National City, California.
He enlisted enlisted at San Diego, California, in November of 1942. One year later he went overseas. When he arrived there, he spent some time in training in the British Isles. Then he went to France and fought with the 13th Infantry of the First Army.
