Pfc Erich Luitz emigrated from Hamburg, Germany on 23 September 1929, sailing with the SS Albert Ballin and arriving in New York.He enlisted in New York City, New York on 31 January 1944.
PFC Luitz's Bronze Star citation in part reads: "PFC Luitz, without thought for his personal safety, exposed himself to administer first aid and remove his Company Commander to a place of safety. His action undoubtedly saved the life of his Commanding Officer."
