2nd Lt Henry A. Tracy worked on a farm. He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army at Fort Crook, Nebraska on 19 August 1941. 2nd Lt Tracy was born on a farm northwest of Chapman.While under fighter attack, witnesses saw the aircraft explode and while going down, colliding with aircraft 42-3265. The entire crew was killed.
His body washed ashore on Terschelling Beach, Holland on 27 May 1944.
His sister worked in a Grand Island defense plant and his brother served in New Guinea.
