Jack Velie's father died in 1917 and he lived with his mother at his grandparents residence in Blooming Grove. His grandparents were Henry and Elizabeth Kincaid.Aircraft 195 was hit by flak near the EP with #3 engine on fire, as was the right wing and the aircraft left the formation in a spin. It was seen to split up into 2 parts and blew up upon hitting the ground.
2nd Lt Jack W. Velie was initially buried at Station cemetery Wesermunde-Geestermunde, Section III, Field K, Row 1, Grave 47 on 9 August 1944,
