1st Lt Paul L. Michalk worked in an aircraft factory.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in San Antonio, Texas on 24 November 1942.

The airplane was rammed by a BF 109, flown by Uffz. Heinrich Rosner of Sonderkommando Elbe.

Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
