Sgt Harold E. Borgens graduated from of Lincoln High School and was associated with Borgens' grocery.

The airplane was shot down by enemy fighters. Seven crew members bailed out and were taken prisoner. Three men were killed.

According to German records, Sgt Borgens bailed out but his parachute didn't open.
