More information

S/Sgt Clyde R. Clark a 1940 graduated from Holden High School before he joined the Regular Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 20 August 1940.

S/Sgt Herbert P. Wright:
I was flying in A/C 42-100364 and saw the following. A/C 42-94951 and A/C 42-95091 were bot hit by flak at approximately the same time. A/C/ 42-95091 had a fire in the bomb-bay and went into a spin and then steep dive. Saw A/C 42-94951 hit and start to go down. At about that time our own ship was hit by flak and I lost track of the two planes that were in trouble. When we straightened out again I saw four chutes but could not positively identify which plane they had emerged from.

1st Lt Malcolm L. Gardner:
Our B-24 suffered several direct hits, two left engines were knocked out and plane was set on fire. Due to fire and or direct hits S/Sgt C.R. Clark probably did not get out of the plane.
