More information

1st Lt A. Earl Dorsett attended college and was a clerk before he joined the Regular Army in New York City, New York on 20 June 1942.

S/Sgt Herbert P. Wright:
I was flying in A/C 42-100364 and saw the following. A/C 42-94951 and A/C 42-95091 were both hit by flak at approximately the same time. A/C 42-95091 had a fire in the bomb bay and went into a spin and then a steep dive. Saw A/C 42-94951 hit and start to go down. At about that time our plane was hit by flak and I lost track of the two planes that were in trouble. When we straightened out again I saw four chutes but could not positively identify which plane they had emerged from.

The engineer said he saw him on the ground, dead and with a wound from flak above his knee.
