1st Lt Albert J. Contra attended the Chemical Engineering School at New Your University for two years. He was a laboratory assistant American Cyanamid Company when he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in New York City, New York on 15 October 1942.The airplane was rammed by a BF 109, flown by Uffz. Heinrich Rosner of Sonderkommando Elbe.
Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
