T/Sgt William H. Strange graduated from John Harris High School and was employed by the Middleton Air Depot as an aircraft checker.He enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 10 March 1943 and was graduated from an airplane mechanics' school at Seymour Johnson Field in North Carolina.
The airplane was rammed by a BF 109, flown by Uffz. Heinrich Rosner of Sonderkommando Elbe.
Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
T/Sgt Strange is remembered at Marietta Cemetery in Marietta, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with a memorial marker.
