1st Lt Joseph G. Horecny graduated from Bloom High School.On the Mission 16 August 1944, aircraft 42-109795 was hit by flak as it was leaving the target area and was forced to feather the 3 and 4 engines. The pilot radioed to the formation that he was heading for Sweden. He reported that he had a gas leak in addition to the feathered engines. The aircraft was under control when it left the formation for Sweden. Hit by flak.
The picture was taken in high school in 1934.
