1st Lt Herbert R. Mallory attended high school for 4 years and was a plasterer before he volunteered for the US Army in Los Angeles, California on 4 March 1942.He was lost as he led a mortar platoon in a battle in France.
He was taken prisoner of war and died of his injuries in a German first aid station on the battle front near Philippsbourg, France.
