Pfc Francis E. Talty Jr. attended high school for 4 years and was a saleman for the John Hancock Insurance Company.

He enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 23 July 1943.

He was taken prisoner of war and died of his injuries in Germany. Whether he died in a POW camp or in a hospital is not known.
