Pvt Michael A. Saleem graduated from Ludlowville High School in 1943 and was employed at International Salt Company.He enlisted in Syracuse, New York on 3 September 1943 and was sent overseas in February 1944. He fought in Italy and the invasion of Southern France.
He was killed in the German counterattack conducted by the 111th Panzer Grenadiers of the 11th Panzer Division through the Mortagne Forest and Hill 484 to the west of Grandvillers.
