Pfc Falls was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: For gallantry in action on 19 October 1944, near Brouvelieures, France. Pfc Falls' company met heavy fire and was forced to stop. Pfc Falls immediately began to work his way across 150 yards of open terrain in an attempt to neutralize the machine gun fire. Despite the fire covering the area, he succeeded in approaching within 30 yards of one machine gun emplacement. With two well-placed grenades and accurate rifle fire, Pfc Falls silenced the gun, killed three of the crew and forced four others to surrender. Sending his captives to the rear, Pfc Falls was moving toward the next enemy emplacement when another machine gun opened fire and fatally wounded him. Pfc Falls displayed courage and devotion to duty in this action which reflect credit upon himself and his organization.
