Pvt Fred H. Reece worked on a farm before he enlisted in Camp Croft, South Carolina on 17 September 1942.He was killed in the German counterattack conducted by the 111th Panzer Grenadiers of the 11th Panzer Division through the Mortagne Forest and Hill 484 to the west of Grandvillers.
