S/Sgt William H. Adams attended John Rogers High School and Davenport High School where he was an athlete. He aslo attended Washington State College for one year. He was employed by the Great Northern Railroad.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Pullman, Washongton on 1 December 1942.

On valentine's day, his mother received flowers ordered by her son, S/Sgt William Adams, on 28 January, by cable from Germany. The family already had been told that on that same day Sgt Adams was killed in action.
