Pfc William F. Slay graduated at St. Joseph Central High School and was a sales clerk before he enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 3 November 1943.

The picture is of Bill as a boy scout in 1937. The other picture was taken as he was touring in Carlsbad in 1939. Another is a high school picture taken in 1942.
