Pvt Edward J. Stryczek attended Dunbar Township High School. He was employed at the Leisenring No. 1 plant of the H.C. Frick Coke Company as a miner.He enlisted in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on 11 May 1943 and trained at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and Camp Carson, Colorado. He was overseas only six weeks.
His father was born in Poland, his mother in Germany. His son Edward Paul Stryczek was born on 6 April 1945.
