Private Dennis M. Mc Keen graduated from Central High School in 1939 and attended Western Michigan College at Kalamazoo for two and a half years.

He enlisted on 20 January 1942 at Fort Custer, Michigan.

He was originally assigned to the armored force school at Fort Knox and completed a 14-week radio operation course in the communication department. Later he was transferred to Camp Cook and while there he applied for and received assignment to the paratroopers and was sent to Fort Benning.

Pvt McKeen was first reported as seriously wounded in Belgium 3 January 1945, but later reported as missing in action since that date. He was officially declared dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.
