More information

Sgt Gus J. Gaxiola enlisted in Phoenix, Arizona on 8 December 1942.

He was taken prisoner on 19 December 1944. He died in Stalag III-B on 31 March 1945 and was initially buried at Quenz Cemetery in Brandenburg, Germany. His grave was marked with a metal plate with his last name on it but an identification tag was found around the neck of his remains which read Henry W. Hughes, O-444032.

The remains were sent for identification to the Ardennes Cemetery but further investigation of his dental records could not identify him for 100%. It was then decided to mark the body as unkown.
