Cpl Norbert H. Rector was employed by the National Distillers before he volunteered for the U.S. Army at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 9 December 1942.

He reported wounded in action on 16 June 1944 and had to be hospitalized in England with ah foot injury.

His other brother, Pvt Eugene Rector, also served in Europe.

His brother Arthur J. Rector was killed in action June 1944 and is buried at Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer in France.
