T/5 William Purdy attended Eastern High School and employed by the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company.He enlisted at Fort Myer, Virginia, on 12 March 1943 and was sent overseas in January 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
