S/Sgt Stacy W. Thompson Jr. was reported wounded in action during the invasion of Normandy and was evacuated to England where he recovered. He had rejoined his outfit in time to participate in the Operation Market Garden.He died in a barn, north of Eerde, The Netherlands.
