Pfc Dennis W. Murphy Jr. volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 18 November 1942.He was reported seriously wounded in action on 5 October, 1944 and after being hospitalized, he returned to duty on 29 November 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
