S/Sgt William E. Fry graduated from Fairview High School in 1942 and was employed as a baker at White Baking Company.

He enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 16 January 1943. He participated in campaigns in Sicily, Cassino, Anzio and Rome then through southern France.

Sgt Fry was taken prisoner and died in Stalag XII-A of malnutrition and acute appendicitis.
