Pvt Rudolph Walsh attended high school for 2 years and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 30 December 1943.

He was officially declared death one year and one day after he went missing and was presumed death. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Offwiller. His remains were never recovered.

Pvt Walsh is remembered at Salyer Cemetery in West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky with a memorial marker.
