Albert J. Wallace was born in Upland and was a graduate fo Eddystone High School and prior to his induction was employed by the Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. He was a member of the Upland Methodist Church.He had been in service two years, having been sent overseas 16 months before his death. He trained at Camp Croft in South Carolina and Fort George G. Meade in Maryland.
He was wounded in Italy in July for which he received the Purple Heart. He also was awarded the Combat Infantrymen's badge prior to being reported missing.
