S/Sgt Michael Prehoda Jr. enlisted in Albany, New York on 21 October 1942.

He was taken prisoner of war and died of his injuries in Germany. Whether he died in a POW camp or in a hospital is not known. His remains were never recovered.

He is remembered at the Saints Peter and Paul Bryzantine Catholic Cemetery at Granville, Washington County, New York
