More information

Pfc Daniel A. Disanto attended Hutchinson-Central High School and was employed at Raymondo's Restaurant.

He enlisted at Fort Niagara, New York on 3 February 1942.

He was awarded the Silver Star medal posthumously. The citation cited: Pfc Disanto attempted to deliver an important message from his company commander to a platoon which had become temporarily isolated by enemy fore during the attack across an open field. In spite of the heavy machinegun fire which covered the area, Pfc DiSanto moved across the field and succeeded in reaching the platoon, but as he pushed on toward the platoon sergeant, he was killed by enemy fore. Pfc Disanto's gallant conduct helped his company to continue its attack and reflects much credit on the Army of the United States.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Saint-Juan, France.
