More information
Pvt John T. Pinar was employed by the I. Stephenson retail company. He enlisted in Traverse City, Michigan on 7 July 1942 and was sent overseas in August 1944.
The last letter received from him by his parents was postmarked 26 November, the day he was reported killed in action. Another letter received by his brother was dated in Pfc Pinar's handwriting as 28 November, two days after he was reported killed in France. Presumably, however, this letter was postdated.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
