Pfc James C. Jones was superintendent of the Sunday School and choir leader of the Clear Lake Baptist Church.

He joined the National Guard on 23 December 1940 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was reported wounded in action on 24 November 1944. After recovering in a hospital in England, he returned to his unit on 16 January 1945.
