Pfc Joseph A. Calcagno attended Vocational High School and was employed by the Rochester Cloth Company.

He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 12 February 1943 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He died of wounds, received on 7 April 1945.

Both his parents and his sister were born in Italy.
