Pfc Edwin P. Higgins graduated from St. Gabriel's Parochial School and was an ambulance driver for Bellevue Hospital.

He enlisted in New York City, New York on 7 June 1943.

He was wounded in action near Ensdorf, Germany in December 1944, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for the first time. He had recovered from his wounds and was released from the hospital shortly before he was killed.
