Pfc Edwin P. Higgins graduated from St. Gabriels Parochial School and was an ambulance driver for the Bellevue Hospital.He enlisted in New York City, New York on 7 June 1943.
He was wounded in action near Ensdorf, Germany in December 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. He was recovered from his wounds and released from hospital only recently before he was killed.
