1st Lt William E. Rafferty graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1931. He graduated from Columbia University's College of Pharmacy.He was a pharmacist at Dyroff Pharmacy.
He enlisted in Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York, on 25 September 1942.
He was taken prisoner and died in Stalag XII-A.
