Pfc Robert D. Ford graduated from Moberly Junior High School before he enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 28 May 1943.He received anti-aircraft training at Camp Callen, California, before being sent to Camp Carson, Colorado, where he subsequently received infantry and mountain training.
He was sent overseas in October 1944.
