2nd Lt Joseph N. Kane graduated from Marist College before he enlisted at Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia on 8 January 1943. He received his commission at Fort Benning in December 1944, and was sent overseas in January 1945.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.

His brother, John B. Kane, is buried next to him.

Lt Joseph N. Kane is on the left in one picture.

He is remembered at the Westview Abbey mausoleum in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.
