Pfc James Coon worked for the Buffalo Niagara Electric Company. before he enlisted in the Navy om October, 1940 and was commissioned as an ensign. He was honorably discharged after two years of service. He reentered the Army in January, 1943 and served with the Army Engineers until January, 1945 when he was transferred to the infantry.
