More information

Pfc Harvey O. Ewing attended high school for 1 year and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Camp Wolters, Texas on 19 March 1942.

Pfc Ewing was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action on 12 November 1944. The citation reads in part: "During a counterattack, Pfc Ewing advanced through intense hostile fire to an exposed position from which he could bring the most effective automatic rifle fire upon the enemy. At the risk of his life, he maintained his dangerous position and continued his fire until he was killed by shell burst. His courageous action so inspired his comrades that they held their ground and repelled the counterattack."

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
