1st Lt John G. Dwyer graduated from Lehigh University in 1937 and he was called to active duty in July 1941. He was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy on 2 September 1944.
