Pfc Kenneth J. Althof attended high school for 3 years before he enlisted in Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa on 2 March 1943.

He was a victim of gunshot wounds while he was removing a gun from a vehicle.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Champigneul, France.
