S/Sgt George F. Wathen attended Charlotte Hall Military School and Western Maryland College. He was employed at the Naval Powder Factory.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Washington, District of Columbia on 11 June 1942.

He is remembered at the Saint Peters Catholic Church Cemetery in Waldorf, Charles County, Maryland.
