Capt Henry V. Baushausen graduated from Marlin High School and Texas A&M College. He enlisted in June 1941.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action on 15 June 1944.

He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism on 11 November 1944.

In September 1944 American forces liberated the French town of Aumetz. Capt Baushausen was honored by the French citizens of this town by changing the name of one of the villages streets to Rue Baushausen.

Capt Henry V. Baushausen was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
