1st Lt William M. Clogston attended high school for four years and was a hotel clerk.He volunteered for the Army of the united States on 6 April 1942. He was commissioned on 29 April 1943, assuming the rank of 2nd lieutenant. He was promoted to 1st lieutenant on 8 July 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Blosville, France on 23 July 1944.
It was at the express request of his father that Lt Clogston should be buried at Margraten, if the Blosville cemetery did not become a permanent burial site. He was given his final resting place on 27 July 1949.
