S/Sgt Vincent Aiello enlisted in New York City, New York on 24 September 1942.

The plane was seen to be hit by flak over Magdenburg, Germany on the route into the target. No. 1 engine was hit, however, the aircraft continued with the formation and bombed the target. As the formation turned back the ship dropped back and a call was made over the radio stating that they could not keep up and they were headed for hom on a heading of 240. Nothing is known after that last contact with this sticken aircraft.

Vincent Aiello is mentioned in the book "Our Last Mission: A World War II Prisoner in Germany" by Dawn Trimble Bunyak and Arnold Krammer. In it is an account of the event which took his life on the crew's last mission together.
