Just before the plane went into the spin, Lt Mc Kenna handled the Bombardier's chute. At the time, Lt McKenna had on his own chute. When the plane went into the final spin, both officers tumbled about in the nose. An ammo box smashed a hole in the plexiglass nose, and Lt Graeff, the bombardier, was thrown out the hole. Lt Mc Kenna was not so lucky. Lt Mc Kenna went down with the plane.
