More information
F/O Lawrence H. Morgan enlisted on 13 December 1942.He would receive his wings at Pecos, Texas on 26 June 1944. When being transferred to the 95th Bomb Group, he first joined the crew of Lloyd Oehlert. Later he flew with the Volz-crew. On 6 April 1945, he flew for the first time with the Robert Davis crew.
On 6 April 1945, the crew was probably trying to reach one of the allied airfields around Brussels. Flying low, they must have missed the vastness of the Sonian Forest as the first row of trees is much higher than the forrest behind it. Flying over the forrest they must have decided to turn back, but flying low, the wingtip hit thr tree tops and the plane cartwheeled before hitting the biggest tree in the vicinity and disintigrating, Killed all 9 crewmembers. This mission was Lawrence Morgan's 20th, and last, mission.
