Pfc William Vander-Kooi graduated from Western Christian High School in 1941. He worked at the Kooiker Machine Works.He enlisted on 30 April 1943 and was selected for the ASTP program. When this program was disbanded, he was transferred to the infantry and sent overseas in November 1944.
