T/3 Richard E. Farrow attended Temple University and graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1937. He was employed by his father at his pharmacy, Farrow's Pharmacy in Haddonfield.

He enlisted at Fort Dix, New Jersey on 11 May 1942.
